I would have to say that my favorite pop culture teacher
would be Mr. Feeny from the popular 90’s show “Boy Meets World.” Mr. Feeny is
the kind of teacher we all need to encounter in our education and life in
general. He is exceptionally strict and has great expectations for his students
(mainly Corey, his young next door neighbor), but underneath the strict
exterior, he is a caring mentor trying to help his students succeed.
In thinking back about my own education, I wish I had
encountered a mentor like Mr. Feeny when I was young. I think I needed someone
in my life to see my potential, and force me to use it. I have always had a
problem with recognizing my abilities, and I never found anyone that was willing
to take the time to push me beyond my limits. Had I had a teacher similar to
Mr. Feeny, I may have taken school more seriously, and therefore might be in a
completely different place in my life right now.
